Registering a marriage in Turkey and how to obtain the Turkish family book.

Requirements for marriage in Turkey

The legal age for marriage is 18, and it is a basic requirement for completing a marriage in Turkey.

If one of the couple is 17 they are considered to meet the requirements, but in that case the consent of a guardian is needed.

Likewise, if one of the couple is 16 they are considered to meet the requirements, but there must be a guardian's consent along with a court ruling, and if the court refuses, the marriage is void.
It is worth noting here that marriage in Turkey is set at 16 and above, and below that the marriage procedure cannot be completed, because if people younger than the set age are married, the husband and the guardians face legal action and a penalty that can reach imprisonment.
