Rumelihisarı Castle, the oldest historic fortress

 

The castle of “Rumelihisarı” is located on the European side of Istanbul, overlooking the Bosphorus Strait,

built by Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror in just 4 months, and it served as the launching point for his conquest of Constantinople,

Its walls reach a height of 82 metres; it is a masterpiece of terrain beauty and was a marvel of construction, both in timing and engineering.

The castle was built to prepare for the conquest of Constantinople and to tighten the siege around it, and it is considered ” Rumelihisarı Castle”

one of the most important landmarks of historic Istanbul. The castle overlooking the strait of “the Bosphorus” is distinguished by its high walls and towers.

Since the conquest of Istanbul, the castle has remained a witness to the greatness of the achievement,

and it still stands on the European side of the city, on

the coast of the Bebek district overlooking the Bosphorus, in a majestic scene.
