Turkish government measures for Turks and foreigners affected by earthquakes
When an earthquake strikes, the Turkish authorities move quickly to take a number of measures
to relieve and compensate those harmed by it, whether they are Turkish citizens
or residents of various nationalities on Turkish soil,
and these measures are as follows:
1- Emergency housing is provided in prefabricated homes, or in tents for a temporary period
2- The damaged buildings are then inspected and classified, after which the most dangerous ones are evacuated
3- The state pays the rent of a suitable flat for the affected families.
4- Housing is built quickly for those affected, and one example of this is
that the Turkish state construction company (TOKİ)
built homes for the owners of properties damaged by the Elazığ earthquake, which struck
on 24 January 2020, and these homes were provided at half their value.
