The Seven Lakes of Bolu

Bolu lies in the western part of the Black Sea region in northern Turkey, and the city shares land borders with 7 different provinces,

with the provinces of Ankara and Eskişehir to the south, Çankırı to the east, and Düzce and Sakarya to the west,

and Zonguldak to the north

Bolu is 191 km north-west of the capital Ankara and 262 km from Istanbul,

and it ranks 37th on the list of Turkish cities by area.

The Seven Lakes park in Bolu is strikingly beautiful, thanks to the sheer number of tall trees it holds

in colours ranging from green to red and orange: pines, oaks and beeches

and holm oaks, surrounding seven clear natural lakes linked by streams and valleys.

The Seven Lakes of Bolu also offer plenty of distinctive pleasures amid their enchanting beauty, introducing you to the plant life

that dominates Turkey, and doing so artfully, with a wealth of wild plants and fragrant, colourful flowers

numbering as many as 298 species. As you wander you will also come across plenty of wild animals such as rabbits

deer and squirrels.

Inside the Seven Lakes park in Bolu you can also take up whatever pastime you please, from climbing trees for

a better view to walking up one of the two hills, since the park is spread across two hills, one of them rising

to 100 metres. You can swim in the lakes as well, or fish in peace, since they hold many kinds

of fish such as salmon and tuna.
