The tree that has stood for more than 600 years
It stands at the foot of Mount Uludağ, only ten minutes by car from the centre of Bursa,
a huge tree whose age, as recorded on it, is 600 years, which has made
it a well-known symbol of the city of Bursa,
Beneath the tree is a lovely café with a wonderful view over the city, and nearby there are some
shops selling souvenirs and antiques.
The ancient tree ( Tarihi Çınar )
is the largest ancient tree in Bursa, standing in the village of Inkaya, and it is said to be
more than 610 years old,
It is a plane tree, which bears no fruit, and its height is put at around 38 metres,
with a diameter of roughly three metres, while its branches spread over an area of 920 square metres.
Visitors flock to Bursa's historic tree to see it up close and look at its ancient
branches, under some of which the municipality has fixed iron columns for fear they might break and fall
to the ground under their own weight. The municipality has also set out all the information about the tree on
a book-shaped display fixed beside it, so that everyone can read it .
