The historic Galata Tower
Galata Tower is the compass for tourists coming to Türkiye to embrace the magic of Istanbul,
a landmark that has witnessed the ages and one of the oldest and finest towers in this historic city,
built back in the Middle Ages and still standing tall today, drawing residents and visitors alike
to take unique keepsake photographs, particularly as its great height allows a panoramic view of
Istanbul from some 67 metres up, a sight that lets you take in the city's enchanting beauty.
Galata Tower stands in the Galata district, which is where its name comes from, and it was built in 528,
going on to become one of Istanbul's most important tourist symbols. Anyone who climbs to the very top of the tower
can see the Istanbul bridge that links the Asian and European sides,
and the Golden Horn bridge as well, clearly and in panorama.
Galata Tower has 9 floors, with the first seven reached by lift,
and the remaining floors climbed on foot. On the ninth floor there is a restaurant for visitors,
as well as a circular balcony looking out over many districts of Istanbul, chief among them Fatih,
Eminönü, Üsküdar and Taksim, along with the gulf of the Sea of Marmara
The tower's management sets no time limit on a visitor's tour,
and charges a modest entry fee for foreign visitors.
