Miniatürk miniature park
Miniatürk park, ranked among the most important tourist places for families,
has a charming view over the Golden Horn and holds a strategic spot in the Sütlüce area,
which comes administratively under the municipality of Beyoğlu on the European side of Istanbul.
It is a museum and a park that bring together Turkey's most important landmarks in
miniature.
It holds a great number of Turkey's tourist landmarks in tiny models
no taller than your child, and they include palaces, gardens, bridges and historic
buildings among other landmarks. The park opened in May 2003 with an area of sixty thousand square
metres, making it the largest miniature park in the world. Miniatürk also has pools and water
channels that add further beauty and charm to the place and put it among the finest parks in Istanbul.
A great many of the miniature buildings in the museum date from the Ottoman Empire,
some of them still standing inside the country
and others lying outside Turkey's borders.
of them stand in their real form in Istanbul, and fifty-five of them are in
central Anatolia. There are also twelve models inside the Miniatürk museum and park in Istanbul
that sit outside the borders of the Turkish Republic. Those models, some of them from the Seljuk and Byzantine
eras, are made of polyurethane so that they keep their shape despite changes in the climate
