Aynalıkavak Palace, Istanbul

Aynalıkavak Palace, or “Aynalı Kavak” (Aynalı kavak), stands in the Hasköy district of Istanbul.
The palace takes its name from the poplar trees in its garden and from the mirrors presented by

the Venetians to Sultan Ahmed III following the Treaty of Passarowitz

under which the Morea region was left to the Turks.
It is one of the plainest of the palaces, notable for the simplicity of its decoration and interiors.
The palace has a single storey, looking out over land on one side and the sea on the other.
It is a fine example of traditional Ottoman architecture.
The palace also has plenty of features that have made it one of the city's most popular attractions,

including a large garden full of trees and brightly coloured flowers

, alongside its generous interior, which holds a great many rooms

and halls set aside for receiving guests,

as well as its excellent location close to historic landmarks and luxury hotels,

with a number of Istanbul's finest hotels nearby.
Visiting the palace, you can take in the antique architectural craftsmanship

once used in the old palaces, remarkable in its construction and lavish in its design,

as well as the colourful inscriptions and ornamentation on the ceilings and walls.
You can also wander through the palace garden and enjoy its beauty,

sitting beneath the canopies with leafy trees on every side,

and there are pools and fountains that make it lovelier still.
