Erdoğan's promises to those affected by the earthquake
Erdoğan revealed that the government is preparing a comprehensive programme that will see the country rise again,
particularly the region hit by the earthquake,
and he also instructed Turkish Airlines to carry passengers to and from the areas struck by
the earthquake “free of charge”.
He also promised to make sure that citizens who do not wish to stay in tents are moved into homes,
with the state covering their rent for a full year
Erdoğan's remarks came hours after the Turkish minister of environment and urbanisation,
Murat Kurum, announced that the country is preparing to launch the largest housing campaign in its history in 10 provinces
of the ten provinces affected by the earthquake disaster.
The Turkish president also pointed to the ongoing installation of prefabricated homes in the region
to shelter those affected by the earthquake,
explaining that a consignment of homes will arrive from outside the country,
to be distributed across the ten affected provinces.
